About

I am an Oklahoma girl who moved to Texas as an adult. I have lived in various parts of the state, but now call my home East Texas. I enjoy gardening, decorating, crafting, spending time with my pets, blogging and keeping up with friends online. I have become somewhat of a saltwater fish aquarium enthusiast this past year. I also have two fish, Spot and Survivor, in the garden pond. I have two Yorkies, named Abigail Rose and Charlie Ross. There are also two cats in the mix; a Maine Coon cat that we found in a dumpster named Clyde. And then there’s Bonnie who hails from a used car lot. I am also a Meals On Wheels volunteer in my community.

Don’t ask me a question if you don’t want an honest answer. Cause I fill that bill quite well. If you ask me what are the top three things that complete my day, I’d say: enjoying the solitude with my pets, photographing flowers and pretties, and being in the garden.

My garden is my peace of mind. I lose myself with hands deep in the soil. Weeding, planting, tending. Me without a garden is a scary thought. Me without a camera in the garden, even scarier.

I don’t know quite what I did before blogging and finding folks I like to commune with online. Oh yeah, I quilted a lot. And made stuff with paper. Which I do a lot less of these days. Because here I am, on the computer.

And then the critters keep me pretty busy. It’s an animal house. They walk on me like I’m pavement. But yeah, loving them makes me a better person. More complete. As someone once said, “Until one loves an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened.” Amen to that. If I had oodles of money and some land, I’d want to take them all in. Make sure they were housed and fed and warm and loved.

You can find me either at the computer, or out in the garden, most any day of the week. Email me at: brendakula@suddenlink.net. I love to meet folks, find new sites, add new bloggers to my friendship roll. Pleased to meet ya, as we say around these here parts.

  1. This has nothing to do with anything, and yet it has something to do with everything! 🙂

I was just over at Paris Parfait’s blog, responding – and actually disagreeing in a polite way – to her latest post. I then began checking out the blogs of others who’d responded – and agreed with her; LOL! – & came across yours.

And you know, it’s such a small world. I, too, live here in East Texas. NE Texas. Piney Woods. Tyler.

So we both take a visit to Paris & run into each other. It’s nice to meet you – I’ll be checking back!

    🙂 Debi

  2. Brenda,

Your photographs are beautiful! What kind of camera are you using? I’d like to teach myself photography or perhaps take a class, but having the right camera is part of the pathway to success.

  3. Hi Brenda,
Looks like we all agree – your pictures are so beautiful. I, too, would love to know what camera you work your magic with?? I’m trying to figure out where NE Tx is now My daughter lives in Austin and we are all from NY state. She was in Houston, too working at the Medical center. I haven’t been down to Austin yet, but I hear it is pretty city.
The pictures you post of your place makes it seem like a great place to live.
I am enjoying your blog !

  4. FYI- My maiden name is Rose. So your yorkie and I are both Abigail Rose.

  9. Can I just say nice to read a comfort to search out someone who actually knows exactly what they are sharing on the internet. You definitely discover how to bring an issue to light and make it valuable. Even more people require to learn this and understand this particular aspect of the story. I cant believe you aren’t very popular because you really have the gift.

  10. Your new Facebook button should show up, and link to your Facebook page. Possessing this type of attitude on your blog and the social media channels you use to promote it can be of infinite value.
